Designing software isn't a typical agency assignment, but when our longstanding developer brought us the project, we dove in. The goal of the project is to bring PwC expertise to businesses too small to pay for onsite consultants and really grow their customer base. The vision includes multiple suites of software to run every aspect of a small business, filling in knowledge gaps as customers grow their small businesses into big ones.
It was an amazing challenge to create highly usable software that was all "eye candy" as our client requested. We optimized for iPad and tried to create an app-like experience even for desktop users. A constantly-updated and scalable graph stays front and center while each page's data is displayed. It's a shame you can't see the animation concepts.
Working in 2013 means social media connections, which we bubbled up to each page in an expandable drawer. So there's always help or advice when they need it. We broke up this content a bit to make it managable and useful. For simple questions and areas in the process where users might not know what to do we lead with PwC expert advice. For subjective, yet simple questions we lead with polls for an easy gut check. For more complicated problems we present the most dynamic message forum we could UX.
